Small Acreage Field Days

Rotary Small Acreage Field Days postponed!

The Government issued a directive late last week calling for the cancellation of gatherings of more than 500 people to minimise the impact of the declared COVID-19 pandemic.   In light of that, the Rotary Club of Stirling has reluctantly postponed the Small Acreage Field Days planned for Echunga in early April.

The Event Chair, Greg Russell, has stressed, though, that is a postponement and not a cancellation and planning will continue with a view to holding the Field Days next year once this health emergency is over.

Greg has thanked, in particular, all the exhibitors and sponsors who supported Rotary for this inaugural event.  He noted that there were a huge number of other community organisations and bodies which had also put in a great deal of effort to ensure success.  This is not an exhaustive list of such groups, but it does include, the Echunga Sports and Recreation Grounds Management Committee, the Weekender Herald, the Mount Barker Council, the CFS, Josh Teague, Member for Heyson and a number of other Echunga sports and community groups.  To all we extend our thanks.

This is certainly a blow to our club, but there are many other people, companies and charitable organisations in the same, or worse, situations, and our focus over the next few weeks and months has to be on supporting each other.

Finally, we wish to thank all in the Hills who have supported Rotary and our projects over the past 45 years and sincerely hope that will continue well into the future in spite of this serious, but temporary setback.

See you next year!
