The 43rd Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Onkaparinga
On Wednesday night we joined the members of the Rotary Club of Onkaparinga on their 43rd anniversary of the granting of their Charter.
It was a great night of fellowship and celebration, fun and games...much enhanced by the terrific venue and, no doubt, the free flowing amber liquid as brewed by the Lobethal Bierhaus.
A clean sweep for Stirling! PP Dick Wilson was the last man standing in the Men's Division of "Heads and Tails" and A/President Susanne won in the Ladies'!

It was nice to see Don Reid in attendance, sitting with John and Raelene Goslett. Onkaparinga sponsored a science student, Seth, to attend the National Youth Science Forum and invited him to the dinner to share his thoughts about the experience and his plans for a career in science.

By the way, as you would be aware, the RC of Onkaparinga has taken a leading role in the region in helping Blaze Aid to restore fencing destroyed in bushfires. Dick Cuttle will attend our meeting on 1 March to talk about their work and explain how they went about setting the project up and gaining funding through RAWCS. A wonderful project, well supported by their members!
...and here is another great initiative of the club worth supporting!

Next Meeting
Our guest speaker next Monday is Dr Michael Court who was a Group Study Exchange Team member to New Mexico USA in 1967. Hear how this experience impacted his life and career.
Vale Chris Richards (2 July, 1945 - 6 December, 2020)
We regret to advise the passing of a much respected, former member, Chris Richards. He had a distinguished career in SAPOL and was very active within the community. In the club for about 12 years, He organised one of the first, legendary Balls the club ran and also served as our club's Seageant at Arms in the days when fines were issued for coming late or not knowing the football score! On good authority, he had absolutely NO PROBLEM collecting!
He is survived by his former wife, Judy, adult children Samantha, Jed, Fleur and Cassie and his 18 grandchildren.
COVID-Safe Compliance
A reminder that SA Health is cracking down on the requirement to comply with COVID restrictions designed to keep us all safe. In particular, they are targeting people who fail to log in to public gatherings. All members are advised that they MUST use their smart phones to scan the barcode on signs located at the entrances of the Stirling Hotel or at the door of the Deck where we meet.
If you do not have the app on your smart phone, your web browser will open and you will have to enter in your name and contact details every time you use it. Using the app, though, makes check-in much easier.
