SUMMER
Is this the summer we didn't have when it was officially summer? Hope everyone has survived this very hot long weekend!
SAD NEWS
Dick has passed on the news that Kerry Reid, Don and Donna Reid's daughter passed away on Friday. Our condolences to Donna and a floral tribute will be organised.
From Mark's Facebook page
With great sadness our dear Kerry passed away this morning, daughter of Donna and the late Don Reid, sister of Mark and sister in law of Beth, dear cousin of Lisa and Sara, aunt of Sydney and Holly. Kerry’s strength and positive drive to live her life to the fullest shone brightly. More recently, despite her illness, her last performance was testament to this, her last hoorah and au revoir on the 25th February. She left very peacefully leaving a huge gap in many people’s lives. Kerry was the shining entertainer of our lives, talented in music, art, acting, clown doctors and coloured our lives with her laughter, voice and humour we all know well. We are very grateful for her many dear friends who have been by her side for many years and recently, making her journey through life and beyond a joy and so much easier.
Kerry is in peace and flying high.
We will be celebrating Kerry’s life at a later date as we navigate international family and the next weeks. Mark, Lisa and Donna.
Latest news - a brief summary of what's happening and how you can help.
The Upcoming Events list to the left shows you both meeting and event information for the next couple of months. You will notice that there are sub committees meeting regularly off-site to further progress our major events - the Sculpture Exhibition and the Small Acreage Field Days.
The next couple of months are shaping up to be busy ones for our club. Please help where you can so that it is not the same people putting in at every event.
The next Laneways opportunity is on March 24 - morning or afternoon shift helpers required. Grant is not available on the day but will purchase the sausages, onions and bread which will be stored in the freezer or caravan fridge. We need a lead person for Sunday and 4 people for each shift. If you have not helped at a Laneways event this year, now is the time! It is not fair to your Rotary colleagues if the same people are volunteering every time. Please SIGN UP HERE if you can help.
REMINDER! We are still on the waiting list for April (28th) Laneways. It is highly likely that we will be offered a spot so please consider putting your hand up.
Our Birthing Kit Assembly Days were a great success. A big thank you to Mark and Bek for opening up their home to allow us to do this. On Thursday I went to Heathfield High School to work with a girls' Life Skills class to assemble 100 kits. We were also support on Sunday by some members of the Rotary Club of Adelaide Parks and some members of the Zonta Club of East Torrens and assembled 300 more.
A big thank you to Grant and Lea Andrew, John and Rae Goslett, Ken J and Mark for giving their time to fold plastic sheets and cut string on Friday. A big thank you also to Greg and Marcella Russell, Andrew and Annette Cass, Neil and Socorro Wickens, John and Lyn Norris, David Wing, Dick Wilson, Ken Jeffery and Dennis Butler (ex Onkaparinga).
Our Community Briefing was well attended on Wednesday February 28 - in fact it was a packed house! Huge thanks to Greg Russell for organising and facilitating this. The event and the club received many positive comments from politicians, councillors and community members.
Your challenge for the week:
We are raising our profile in the community through our regular Facebook/Instagram posts and through mentions by others. We also have a separate Facebook/Instagram page for the Field Days which is seeing a lot of activity. Facebook pages thrive on likes and shares, so please do our club a favour, check out our pages and like and share the posts where you can. I will be checking!
