It was a great crowd who gathered for our District Governor Tim Klar’s visit. Thank you all for making him and his wife Bronwyn feel welcome.
We had a lively meeting and Tim was able to remind us of our core values of Leadership, Service, Fellowship, Diversity and Integrity. This is what we are about and we should remind ourselves of these values in all we do in our lives. He also reminded us that the basis of our vision statement is to grow Rotary, and to encompass our family within Rotary.
We need to look for a work / family / Rotary balance and to have a viable path for leadership that caters for business and professional life as well. We are also challenged to take action and to embrace the new while keeping the best of the old.
In summary Dream Big, Have Goals, Take Action. See more on our Facebook page.
It was a great night that followed a double board meeting, first for our own board, followed by a joint board meeting with DG Tim which was a great discussion of where we are at and where to go forward.
DG Tim also presented the Award for Best International Project which we share with Mount Barker and Murray Bridge Clubs- our project partners.
Receiving the Award from DG Tim Klar for the Timor Leste project is
Robert Koehne, Director - International and President Susanne
Tim’s wife Bronwyn spoke about one of her favourite topics, Shelterbox, and also presented an Award to our club for outstanding support.
Dan accepted the award from Bronwyn Klar
on behalf of the Rotary Club of Stirling
And I am not allowed to tell you but Dan had also received earlier in the post an individual award from Shelterbox (don’t tell him I told you).
Neil Wickens reported on the very successful wine bottling on Sun 20th. Just over 50 dozen were bottled and all are already sold. Thanks to those who attended and helped, John O, John G, Ken P, Ken J, David Wing, Colin F, Ron M and Neil Wickens.
Strict quality control enforced!
Thank you to all of those who are going to the End Polio Now! film night tonight. I know we will all have fun.
You will have all been sent a short survey from our district about meeting frequency. It only took me 1 or 2 mins so please complete so the district gets the clearest view of what we want.
On Sunday we have Callington Show where we are serving food (NOT doing the gates as in last newsletter- I didn’t proof read properly)
However, on 3rd November we are doing all the gates at Uraidla Show. There are still a few places to be filled (as per Dan’s email). Let us make this a highly successful event that once again we can be proud of.
On Monday night next, as well as the AGM, we have a wonderful guest speaker and we are being sponsored for drinks and some nibbles prior to the main course that we pay for. More details from Pauline in next days. Be there early to have time to fully participate! It will be a great night.
Finally. For the health and continuation of our amazing club please give serious thought to taking on a leadership role in YOUR club. Volunteer yourself and ask someone to nominate you in writing. Without leadership we cease to exist.I look forward to hearing from you expressing your willingness. Please call me if you have any queries about this. (0418 845 119) If you are new to a position, we will appoint a mentor to assist you in knowing what to do and how to do it.
