Last Monday's Meeting

By all accounts Monday's meeting turned out to be an informative and thought provoking one as members considered the club's Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.  All Committees also had an opportunity to share with others their ideas about priorities for the new Rotary year.  If you have not already done so, please consider the two documents President Stephen sent out and take some time to contribute to the discussion.

For your convenience, copies have been added to ClubRunner. Download the documents, complete them (or add to) the personal Reflections document HERE and the SWOT analysis HERE.

Print and deposit them in the box when you sign in on Monday night.

Next Meeting

Our guest speaker on Monday is PDG Barbara Wheatcroft, a six year veteran of the Board of Australia Rotary Health, which this month celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Come to learn about the incredible work of ARH, its challenges, its achievements and its plans for the next 40 years.

We will also host Di Clements the incoming District Chair of ARH.

This has been declared a Partners AND Hat Night for Mental Health.  "Don't keep it under your hat!"

Changes to Meeting Schedule

Please note that meeting on Monday the 23rd of August will be devoted to finalising the Priorities and Actions for this year.

The meeting with the Stirling CFS brigade has been rescheduled for Monday, 30 August.  All to meet at the CFS station off Avenue Road behind the Stirling Theatre at the special time of 7:00pm. We have invited CFS members to share a pizza meal with us following which we will tour the facilities and learn more about their operations. A night not to be missed!

Malcolm and Jane's Journey continues...

A great day today 12/8 for my birthday. Seafood platter for lunch, including lobster, then out to the Pinnacles.  These amazing structures are made from natural limestone and vary in height to 4 metres. They spread out over a large area with a 4 km route through them to get various varying perspectives. Very impressive and well set up, as are many places in WA.

The local indigenous group forbade their young to visit the area because they believed the Pinnacles contained the ghosts of their young men who died when on walkabout and that the Pinnacles themselves were the fingers of the dead reaching out from their graves!"

Unusual Homes No 6 (Final)

An airplane house in the village of Miziara, Lebanon, on May 12, 2015. Miziara prides itself on building residential homes that resemble ancient Greek temples and Egyptian ruins, or this one, built in the shape of an Airbus A380

What Exactly IS Globalisation Anyway?

An English Princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a French tunnel, riding in a German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a Belgian who was drunk on Scottish whisky, followed closely by Italian Paparazzi, on Japanese motorcycles, treated by an American doctor, using Brazilian  medicines.

...and you're probably reading this message from a Canadian/Australian on your computer, that  uses Taiwanese chips, and a Korean monitor, assembled by Bangladeshi workers in a Singapore plant, transported by Indian truck drivers and on a Liberian registered ship crewed by Filipinos.

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen is the very definition of Globalisation!

The Four Way Test
Of all the things we think, say and do

Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Please support the Friends of Rotary the way they support us!
